Overview
Leyland Trade Fast Drying Undercoat has been formulated to work with and . It's quick drying, water based and therefore low VOC and low odour. It has high opacity so its hiding capacity is excellent. The water base also means that you don't get the yellowing you get with a solvent based undercoat. It's available in Brilliant White and Dark Grey.

Clean Up | Remove as much of the undercoat as possible from your brush or roller and clean with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. |
Preparation
Ensure that the surface you're applying the undercoat to is sound, clean, dry and free from grease.
- Rub down any bare timber with a fine waterproof abrasive paper to remove raised grain and sharp edges and apply knotting solution to knots and resinous surfaces.
- Rub down sound previously gloss painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to provide a key. Don't inhale dust and wear a suitable face mask if you're dry sanding.
- Prime where required, for example to bare timber or to metal
- Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Application
Always perform a test on a small inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility, and we recommend following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
- Stir well before use
- Apply generously, ensuring you brush firmly into the surface
- If you're applying to timber, make sure you include the end grain
- Allow 1-2 hours drying time before applying the second coat, if necessary. Please note that extremes of temperature will affect the drying time
- Don't apply when rain is forecast or when the surface or air temperature is below 10 degrees celsius
- Always read the manufacturer's instructions on the tin before you begin
